I arrived in Honolulu at 12 local time and I was hungry. So I had a little too much at the McDonald that’s across the place I’m staying at. So tonight I figure I will just have something light to eat to bring back to my room. So I walk around and am looking at a Japanese/Taiwanese restaurant’s menu outside, a server comes out and asks if he can help. It’s not takeout but noodle soup sounded good so I figured why not.

I sit down and get a coke while I look at the menu, meaning now I’m committed. It looks a bit expensive to me, but having not been anywhere else than McDonalds here I figure it might just be Hawaii. I order two different flavours of soup, you could order up to four and there were quite a lot of choice. So I’m thinking I was holding back a bit.

Then they come out with a big pot and put it on a burner on my table. Both soups happily boiling away. Then I have to go pick some ingredients from a freezer to put in. This is about the time I realize I’ve ordered food for 3-4 people… And I’m not that hungry. I managed some of it, it’s quite good, and I got two big cups of it to take back to my room as well. Then while I’m waiting for the bill they bring our the complimentary desert, which looks to feed 4 people as well.

So I figure I’ll spend tonight, possibly tomorrow, curled up in bed feeling sorry for myself. And do you realize how hard it is to feel sorry for oneself when in Hawaii?
